Wave of pager detonations in Lebanon lasted an hour: What we know so far

Eight people, including two Hezbollah fighters, were killed after pagers (wireless devices) used by the Lebanese group to communicate exploded across Lebanon on Tuesday in the “biggest security breach” the outfit has been subjected to amid its fighting with Israel.
The wave of explosions that injured over 2,750 people, including Hezbollah fighters and the group’s medical personnel, lasted for about an hour after the initial blasts. Hezbollah said that two of its fighters and a girl were killed in the blasts and warned it would give Israel “a fair share of punishment” over the incident.
The detonation of the pagers came as Iran-backed Hezbollah has been involved in cross-border warfare with Israel since the Gaza war broke out on October 7 last year.
